EVO 4G ROM Search

After my EVO 4G ran out of space I got really frustrated that I could not uninstall the bloatware that came with the phone. So I decided ok I am going to Root my phone which I did and began to remove some of the bloatware but to my surprise that broke some of the phones functionality. I decided to install a custom ROM and this is my experience.

When I first was searching for ROM’s I found one called Synergy that has Sense 3.0. I will tell you it looked pretty awesome but everytime you would exit an app or tried to answer a call, the phone would be on loading for a good 2 to 3 minutes guaranteeing you would miss the call, also text messaging did not work. So I said OK Sense 3.0 is not for me let me see if I can find a patched stock ROM. My search turned up Sprint Lovers ROM. This ROM was just what I was looking for all the bloatware gone but same stock system. I ran that for a few months and decided I was getting bored with it so my search again turned up an incredible ROM from Team Nocturnal. I ROM I am talking about is E3D.

I was skeptical at first installing another ROM with Sense 3.0 since synergy left a bad taste in my mouth but I figured what the hell I can reload Sprint Lovers or Stock if need be. My first mistake when installing this ROM was that I did not clear out my Davik Cache or Cookies. So if you decide to install this ROM be sure to do that it will save you from having it hang in the Boot Animation Screen.

Once the ROM was installed I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the phone operated. The phone with Sense 3.0 actually ran much faster than the Sense 1.0. So far I haven’t had any issues with this ROM. My only complaint is that it is a bare bones minimum. I mean you have to install Gmail, Adobe, all the “essentials”. I did run a Carrier IQ scan on the ROM and it has a rating of 150 so its there but its deactivated. I am sure when Sprint releases their Carrier IQ free ROM this ROM will get an update.
