This is instructions on how to install a pre-release verison of the Android 2.1 OS for the Samsung Moment. A special thanks to http://www.sdx-developers.com for the information and ROMS.
Android 2.1 brings the moment:
- Faster and more responsive.
- Built-in VPN.
- Bluetooth software enhanced.
- Slide function to answer a call.
- SMS voice input
- Accepts unsigned emails now.
File Requirements:
- Samsung Moment Updater

System Requirements:
- Your computer is running one of these systems:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4
- Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or better
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7
- Your Moment has a fully-charged battery
- You have the USB data cable that came with your Moment
Information:
- SPH-M900_MR2_DD03_REL.tar located in the Moment_2.1.7z has the newer kernel build
- Both versions have been flashed and tested, Just like with the CL14 update all your settings and data will be wiped off the device
Installation:
- Use 7zip to extract the SPH-M900_MR2_DD03_REL.tar and SPH-M900_MR2_DC23_REL.tar files from Moment_2.1.7z
- Copy SPH-M900_MR2_DD03_REL.tar into the Sprint Update Tool binary folder.
- Default path to binary folder - C:\Program Files\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary
- Make sure no other files are in the Binary folder except the DD03.tar
- Now run the Samsung Moment updater the same as you did for the CL14 version.
- From this point, you can follow the directions on each screen. Please note the following:
- You will now see a warning screen that data not synchronized will be deleted. It is important that you back up your data before moving forward.
- Note: If you have signed in to a Gmail account and allowed the synchronization with Gmail to continue, the following items will be restored once you sign back in to your Gmail account:
- Google Contacts
- Google Calendar
- Purchased applications can be re-downloaded
- Google emails
- The SD card is NOT erased during the upgrade process. The following items are stored on the SD card:
- Music
- Moves and Videos
- Pictures
- Some application data (not all depends on application)
- Saved email attachments
- Note: If you have signed in to a Gmail account and allowed the synchronization with Gmail to continue, the following items will be restored once you sign back in to your Gmail account:
- When you are instructed to simultaneously press and hold the Volume Down, Camera and End keys (download mode), it is important that you press the END button LAST, as this makes sure the phone does not turn on before the other two buttons are pressed. If you see the Samsung logo when you do this, you will need to pull the battery and try it again.
- Once the Flash Programming is complete, your Moment will reboot and start hands-free activation.
