New Host, New Site

Under Construction

The site has recently changed hosting providers. The old host did not provide all the features that I required from the server so I switched it over. I am working to restore the content of the previous site. In addition, I have updated the look of the site once again to be more appealing to you. Please check back for updated site information.

My Top Ten Things of 2009

I wanted to take a few minutes and reflect on my top ten things in 2009.

Facebook

10. Facebook - This year facebook dominated myspace which was awesome, moving all my friends over from that source of spam(myspace) to what myspace should of been in the beginning(Facebook).

Nick Jr

9. Nick Jr.com - This website has kept the 3 year old out of my hair for many hours so I could complete my school work or just chill out and relax.

8. Dreaming Digital - Decommissioned the IT Services and made the site my creative space.

Comptia

7. CompTIA - I received certifications from CompTIA which helped me in pursuing my career in IT not as a freelancer but as a full time employee with a great company.

Snowboarding

6. Snowboarding - Had some good runs in 2009 and I threw on some ski's when I was in Seattle and skied some black diamond runs.

5. Hover - I have been making progress with the story and started the creation of the game. Taught myself some C# so maybe I can make it xbox 360 portable.

Halo ODST

4. Halo ODST - Even though this was a short game and did not have match making ability for online play I truely enjoyed this game much more than Halo 3. The HUD was much better and the fact of 4 concurrent story lines made the game a real treat.

Mass Effect

3. Mass Effect - Played through Mass Effect twice this year in anticipation of Mass Effect 2. I also read both books to get a better background on the Mass Effect Universe. I am super excited for this game.

New Job

2. New Job - For years I worked at a place that didnt give a shit about its employees and just used them and abused them. This year I was finally given a break and found a new job with a great company doing what I love to do which is working with computers. This was a small step in my ultimate goal but as long as I am progressing, My dream of turning my Story into a Video game will be accomplished.

1.The Birth of My Son - My son was born in June of this year and he was 9 weeks early, From the start he had a fight battle and accomplished so much with ease it seems. With the end of 2009 nearing he was faced with yet another challenge and once again with amazement tackles that like it was nothing. I am such a lucky father to have my son and I am thankful everyday!

Those are my top ten things of 2009. Had a great year this year and look forward to 2010.

Hack your Samsung ROM

So recently I got pretty bored with the look and feel of my android and I decided to spice it up. So I headed on over to SDX Developers and I was pleasantly surprised by the Custom ROM generator they have on the site. It does require an installation of Joeykrims Recovery 2.1.3. Which can be found here. You can flash this tar file the same way you flashed the beta 2.1 ROM. For more instructions please visit  http://www.dreamingisdigital.com/android/hacks/89-android-21-for-the-samsung-moment.html the only difference is to use the tar file downloaded above. The great thing is once you install the recovery file no need to use the Samsung flasher to install the custom ROM's you just boot into recovery mode and install the zip from the sdcard.

Custom ROM installation on the Samsung Moment.

Requirements:

SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar
SamsungMoment_Update-CL14.exe

or the patch if you want to use the new Samsung updater which can be found
SDX Samsung Updater Patch.exe

Able to point and click a mouse.

Instructions:

Once the Recovery 2.1.3 is installed.

Go to http://www.sdx-downloads.com/custom/

Just select your modules, applications and themes.

Copy to the Custom-SDX-Update.

Reboot the phone in recovery by holding down on the bottom volume control and hold talk and end buttons.

Select apply zip.

and thats it.

Root your Samsung Moment 2.1 Official Instructions

image

Rooting the Samsung Moment with the Official 2.1 Update from Sprint

Installing the ROM (Requirements for Root Access):

Use the Original Spint Update Tool for CL14.
If you do not have it, It can be Downloaded Here: SamsungMomentUpdater-CL14.exe

Download this ROM SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar

  • This is the Official Android 2.1 DE03 with joeykrim SDX recovery 2.1.3 included
The joeykrim recovery is what allows root access to be applied to your phone.

Download joeykrim root version 7

  • This applies Root Access to the Phone.

Directions

Put the SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar into the binary folder of the Sprint Update Tool. (Make sure no other files in the Binary folder!)

Run the Sprint Update Tool which will flash the phone. For more detail on the Sprint Update Tool, please refer to flashing the DD03 Beta Instructions.

This will give you full Android 2.1 DE03 and an SDX custom recovery of your choice!

Once you have installed the ROM using the SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar file make sure you phone boots up and operational the inital boot may take a few minutes longer than normal.

Load the joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root.zip onto the sdcard. Use either mount to USB and copy from host computer or mount /sdcard and adb push.
(I personally recommend mounting through USB and copying the file to the root of the SDcard if you want to use the ADB way see below)

Details for ADB:

  1. Double check sdcard is mounted. Sdcard Options -> Mount to /sdcard
  2. adb push c:\android\joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v6.zip /sdcard/

Next turn off your phone.

Reboot into recovery - holding vol down + talk + end through the SDX boot screen until the Recovery UI appears.

IF THE TOP OF THE RECOVERY SCREEN DOESN'T SAYS SDX, you're not using joeykrim recovery 2.1.3.  If your screen doesn't say SDX you can find help here from SDX developers joeykrim recovery thread

Select Apply Update .zip from Menu

Select joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v7.zip

Apply and Reboot

After Installation of Root:

To see if it worked, download ConnectBot from the Market.

  • In connectbot, choose "Local" from the dropdown menu on the bottom left.
  • A command prompt window will open.  Type in "su" and press enter.
  • The $ will turn into a #.  If it didn't turn into a #, repeat the installation process.

*Note ADB (USB debugging) is turned off by default in Android 2.1. Turn it back on and you'll also have root in adb shell.

All this information can be found at SDX-Developers.com. Give these guys prop's they are awesome and willing to help.
Thanks to SDX Developers for not making take down there awesome Hax.

Any discussions or questions can be answered in the forum.
